What is Stock split?
A stock split divides each existing share into more shares and lowers the price per share in proportion, so the company's total value does not change. In a 2-for-1 split, a holder of 100 shares at $50 ends up with 200 shares at $25. Companies often split after a large price rise, which makes each share cheaper to buy.
