CrowdStrike agrees to buy Fiddler and Dreadnode to police AI agents
CrowdStrike agreed to buy Fiddler and Dreadnode and launched a kill switch for rogue AI agents. The bet is that businesses may pay to monitor and test software they let act on their behalf.
Quick Read
- CrowdStrike agreed to buy Fiddler, which monitors AI agents, and Dreadnode, which tests AI for weaknesses, without disclosing terms.
- It also launched an AI Kill Switch that lets administrators stop rogue agents and cut their network access.
- The shares rose on Tuesday, roughly in line with a broad gain in technology stocks.
- CrowdStrike expects both deals to close in its fourth quarter of fiscal 2027.

What did CrowdStrike announce?
CrowdStrike (Nasdaq: CRWD) said on Tuesday it signed final agreements to buy startups Fiddler and Dreadnode. It did not disclose the price. The company said it will pay mostly in cash, with some stock tied to vesting conditions.
Why it matters: Fiddler tracks what AI agents do and why. Agents are software that can log into company systems and carry out tasks on their own. Dreadnode tests AI systems against more than 100 known attack strategies, the company said. These include jailbreaks and prompt injection, tricks that push a model to ignore its rules.
CrowdStrike also launched an AI Kill Switch, available now. It lets authorized administrators stop a misbehaving agent, block it from relaunching and cut its network access, with each step logged.
Why does CrowdStrike want to police AI agents?
The risk CrowdStrike describes is an agent that does harm without being hacked. "AI agents don't have to be compromised to be dangerous," the company said in a press release.
An agent with valid logins could still ignore instructions or take an action nobody intended. Older security tools flag break-ins, but they may not explain why an authorized agent made a choice. Chief executive George Kurtz called Fiddler the "flight recorder for every agent."
How did the stock react?
CrowdStrike shares rose 1.2% on Tuesday to close at $244.68, adding $2.9 billion in market value. The gain roughly matched the technology sector fund's 1.3% rise, so a broad tech rally may explain part of it.
The shares still closed 12.3% below their 52-week high of $278.86. CrowdStrike accounts for 0.28% of the value of the 500 largest U.S. companies, and its gain added $3 to $100,000 spread across them by size.
What comes next?
What’s next: CrowdStrike expects both deals to close in its fourth quarter of fiscal 2027, subject to customary conditions. It plans to turn Fiddler into Falcon Observe, part of its Falcon platform. It expects that product and Dreadnode's testing tool to launch in the same quarter.
The open question is whether businesses will pay to secure their AI agents. Demand for those products once they launch could start to answer it.
For readers
What it could mean for you: If you own CrowdStrike shares directly, these deals affect you fully. With the price undisclosed, the cost in cash and stock may only become clear later. What may matter most is whether businesses buy agent monitoring and testing once Falcon Observe and the testing tool launch in fiscal 2027's fourth quarter. In a broad index fund, the company is a small slice.
